Raiders QB Aidan O'Connell Continues to Come of Age
Las Vegas Raiders second-year quarterback Aidan O'Connell has been an underdog since his journey to the National Football League began. After leading a terrible Raiders roster to a 5-4 record down the stretch last season and winning two consecutive games for the first time this season, with an even worse roster shows how far O'Connell has come. O'Connell was stuck on the bench after somehow losing the quarterback compeititon to veteran Gardner Minshew this offseason. Minshew was one of the highest-paid players on the Raiders' roster, undoubtedly playing a part in the team's decision to start Minshew over O'Connell.

Raiders TE Brock Bowers could be Offensive Rookie of the Year -- in a different season
Poor timing might be the only thing standing between Raiders tight end Brock Bowers and the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels likely will take the honor — and win it easily. “Just look at the records and look at the stats,” Las Vegas coach Antonio Pierce said Monday.

Saints, smarting from shutout loss, seek turnaround vs. Raiders
Neither are the New Orleans Saints. When the two teams meet Sunday in New Orleans, it will be largely an audition for future employment for coaches and players on both teams. Las Vegas (3-12) hired Antonio Pierce as head coach after the team had an encouraging 5-4 record as interim head coach last season. New Orleans (5-10) is 3-3 under interim head coach Darren Rizzi, who was promoted when Dennis Allen was fired after a seven-game losing streak this season.

Patriots, Raiders Swap No. 1 Pick, Superstar Defender in Trade Idea
Following Week 17 NFL action, the New England Patriots would now hold the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft if the season ended today. Now, fans can only hope that the Patriots don't spoil having that pick by beating the Buffalo Bills in a meaningless Week 18 matchup to end the year. Having the No. 1 pick would give New England a ton of options. With that in mind, the question would become, which teams would be interested in a massive blockbuster trade up for the No. 1 pick?

Saints Achieve New Depths In Home Loss To Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders are a bad football team, but the New Orleans Saints are worse. Such was proven with little doubt during a 25-10 debacle of a Raiders victory inside the Superdome on Sunday. This latest loss dropped the Saints to 5-11, with the Raiders improving to 4-12. New Orleans also ended their home record at a lowly 3-6.

3 Sleeper Pass Rushers Raiders Should Pursue in NFL Free Agency
The Las Vegas Raiders boast one of the NFL's very best pass rushers in Maxx Crosby, and yet, they rank toward the bottom of the league in sacks. Plus, Koonce is slated to hit the open market. Luckily, the Raiders are projected to have expansive cap room heading into free agency, meaning they can certainly afford to address the issue.

Raiders' Brock Bowers breaks 2 records, including Mike Ditka's 1961 rookie tight end mark for yards
Then he proceeded to break a 63-year-old record in his first 16 games as a pro — just one of three notable marks he set Sunday during the Las Vegas Raiders' 25-10 victory over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Bowers' seven catches for 77 yards give him 108 receptions for 1,144 yards in 16 games this season, eclipsing Mike Ditka's 1961 rookie tight end mark of 1,067 yards receiving and Puka Nacua's 2023 mark of 105 catches by a rookie at any position.

Potential Raiders QB Target Jaxson Dart Declares for Draft
The Las Vegas Raiders will be one of the most aggressive teams for a quarterback this offseason. The trio of Gardner Minshew II, Aidan O'Connell, and Desmond Ridder has not proven to be the spark this group has needed. The offense has struggled, no matter which quarterback has taken the field. It has yet to be seen whether the Raiders will find a free-agent quarterback option or select a rookie in the 2025 NFL Draft, but the team will certainly look to upgrade the room for the 2025 season.

How to watch Raiders vs. Saints today: Time, TV channel for Week 17

Derek Carr has taken a big step forward in his recovery process
Derek Carr has officially been ruled out of the New Orleans Saints matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. Carr is still pushing to get back on the field. If you're looking for optimism that he'll achieve his goal, Carr was seen Friday without a brace on his hand. Darren Rizzi has maintained it's all about functionality and not pain tolerance.

Las Vegas Raiders Insider Podcast: The Raiders' Fight
HENDERSON, Nevada -- The Las Vegas Raiders are still scraping together what they can to find some success late in the season. This team is not one to quite -- it stems from the leadership up top to those on the field. The latest edition of the Las Vegas Raiders Insider podcast dives into the Raiders' fight and the NFL at-large. Our Hondo Carpenter and The Spun's Matt Hladik break it down right here: Head Coach Antonio Pierce Q: I know you said the season obviously didn't go the way you guys planned, but you still got two games ahead of you. NFL insider's Raiders report is bad news for head coach Antonio Pierce
As the Las Vegas Raiders wind down their depressing 2024 season, there is major doubt about the future of head coach Antonio Pierce, who is in his first full season as Las Vegas' lead man. Pierce was named the interim head coach last season in the wake of the firing of Josh McDaniels, who was a total disaster. Pierce's stint as the interim head coach was no doubt impressive, as he led the Raiders to a 5-4 record thanks to the team showing major improvement on his watch.

Raiders predicted to trade up and add 102-TD, 6'2 dual-threat quarterback
The Las Vegas Raiders tried their hand at quick fixes at the quarterback position on multiple occasions in recent years, but they have failed miserably in their attempts. The most recent example came when the Raiders signed Gardner Minshew in free agency in 2024, with the goal of having him compete with Aidan O'Connell for the starting job, which Minshew eventually won. O'Connell has since taken over in between injuries but hasn't done enough to lock himself in as the long-term starter. The Raiders should be going back to the drawing board in 2025, and their goal must be to land a young quarterback in the NFL Draft.

What's at stake in the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl between USC and Texas A&M?
Lincoln Riley's USC Trojans and Mike Elko's Texas A&M Aggies are heading to Sin City for a battle in the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl on Dec. 27. Held since 1992, the Las Vegas Bowl was played at Sam Boyd Stadium, the former home of UNLV football, until 2019 when it was moved to the recently completed Allegiant Stadium, home of the NFL's Las Vegas Raiders. In the Las Vegas Bowl, Texas A&M looks to complete a nine-win campaign in Year 1 under Elko, which would be its first time reaching that benchmark since the COVID-impacted 2020 season under Jimbo Fisher.

It looks like Spencer Rattler will get another start. To be fair, he hasn't been dealt the best hand, especially last week when the Saints' offense was missing pretty much all of its main weapons. It didn't help matters that center Erik McCoy also went down during the game. Rattler has to do a better job of taking care of the ball though.

Saints, smarting from shutout loss, seek turnaround vs. Raiders
Neither are the New Orleans Saints. When the two teams meet Sunday in New Orleans, it will be largely an audition for future employment for coaches and players on both teams. Las Vegas (3-12) hired Antonio Pierce as head coach after the team had an encouraging 5-4 record during his stint as interim head coach last season. New Orleans is 3-3 under interim head coach Darren Rizzi, who was promoted when Dennis Allen was fired after a seven-game losing streak this season.

Saints are hopeful Derek Carr can return against the Raiders on Sunday
Derek Carr could return to action for the Saints in their game against the Las Vegas Raiders Sunday in the Superdome, head coach Darren Rizzi said. "I'm hoping so," Rizzi said when asked if Carr might be available to play during a conference call with local reporters. The Saints plan to put Carr through game-like conditions this week in practice to see if he can protect himself and the ball and function physically with his injured left hand, which he fractured two weeks ago in the Saints' 14-11 win against the New York Giants.

Raiders named possible landing spot for $10 million breakout quarterback
The Las Vegas Raiders will be searching for a franchise quarterback in 2025 after it has become very clear that neither Gardner Minshew nor Aidan O'Connell are the long-term answers the team needs. The hope is that the Raiders can land one of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft, but with Las Vegas slipping to No. 6 in the draft order after Week 16, the team isn't guaranteed to be in position for them. If Las Vegas decides the draft isn't their best avenue for a franchise quarterback, Andrew Buller-Russ of Sportsnaut thinks Minnesota Vikings signal-caller Sam Darnold could be an option for the Raiders.

NFL Week 17 picks straight up and against spread: Will Chiefs wrap up No. 1 seed on Christmas?
It may be Christmas week, but you can bet the NFL won't be taking any kind of Holiday break. The league will hold Week 17 games on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday – multiple gifts for fans, not so much for the players, especially those on the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens (both teams had Yuletide duty in 2023 as well).

Maxx Crosby's comments on Raiders are troubling for his future in Las Vegas
There was no shortage of speculation about Las Vegas Raiders star edge rusher Maxx Crosby possibly being traded at the deadline in November, but Crosby has reiterated on several occasions that he wants to remain with the only franchise he's ever been with. During a recent episode of "The Rush with Maxx Crosby" podcast, the Raiders star touched on the many sources of frustration he has had in his time with the franchise. "It's tough, bro, because I feel for Myles (Garrett) because he's in that same boat," Crosby added.

Raiders predicted to sign $4 million defender as Christian Wilkins running mate
The Las Vegas Raiders are going to have a slew of free agents to make decisions on this coming offseason, including a pair of defensive linemen in John Jenkins and Adam Butler. Jenkins has been a starter for the Raiders for two seasons, and Butler has been a solid rotational player who picked up a lot of extra work this season after the season-ending injury to 2024 free-agent acquisition, Christian Wilkins. Knowing that, Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report wants to see the Raiders bring in Tennessee Titans defensive lineman Sebastian Joseph-Day in 2025.

Raiders Hope Extended Playing Time for Young Players Pays Off
Injuries have forced the Las Vegas Raiders to play a significant part of the season, featuring many players who have been in the National Football League for two seasons or less. This has led to the expected learning curve that comes with so much inexperience being on the field simultaneously. Unfortunately, or fortunately, the Raiders have had to depend on those players much sooner than anyone expected. While that has led to many mistakes and losses, the Raiders have leaned on their long-term approach of drafting well and developing those players.
