Tight end Michael Mayer has been away from the Las Vegas Raiders for several weeks now, but it appears he might be close to rejoining the team. Mayer last played in the Week 3 game against the Carolina Panthers before leaving the team due to a personal reason. While there was some speculation that Mayer's absence was related to frustration over his role after he has taken a back seat to standout rookie tight end Brock Bowers, that is not the case. According to Your Boy Q of the Locked on Raiders Podcast, Mayer's family reached out to the Raiders to let them know he was dealing with "a situation that has occurred in his life before," although the exact details remain unknown.
