The Las Vegas Raiders found unlikely sources Sunday when it came to finally establishing a running game: their receivers. Wide receivers DJ Turner and Tre Tucker rushed for touchdowns, and tight end Brock Bowers had a 12-yard carry.

This Cleveland Browns Star Is Not To Blame For Inexcusable Loss To Raiders
It's become the lowest hanging fruit after each and every Cleveland Browns loss at this point to blame quarterback Deshaun Watson. With Watson though it's become more about the controversial player he is off the field, and his overall struggles to this point since he came to Cleveland via a blockbuster trade in 2022. Naturally, after a 20-16 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, Watson found himself at the center of the blame game as the team dropped to 1-3 on the season.

Raiders' defense, running game seals win over Browns
Alexander Mattison and Zamir White combined for 110 yards rushing and the Las Vegas Raiders' defense held tight in the second half to earn a 20-16 victory over the visiting Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Tre Tucker and DJ Turner each ran for a touchdown, while quarterback Gardner Minshew was 14-of-24 passing for 130 yards.

Two Raiders drafted rookies make their first starts, a third makes his debut Week 4
Just four weeks into the 2024 seasons and the Raiders are turning to their draft class to give them a boost. Two of their rookies are making their first starts of the season, both along the offensive line.
Getting his first start at right tackle is DJ Glaze. The third rounder replaces injury starter Thayer Munford. Glaze came in on the third play last Sunday when Munford left with knee and ankle injuries and didn’t return. Munford inactive today.
Coming in to make his first start at left guard is Jackson Powers-Johnson. The second rounder made his debut last week after being inactive the first two weeks with an illness. The Raiders had wanted Powers-Johnson to be the starter to begin the season, but the Rimington Award Winner out of Oregon missed much of the offseason and training camp with an undisclosed injury.
Making his debut is rookie running back Dylan Laube. The sixth rounder was much talked about in camp only to end up inactive for the first three games of the season. Now, with so many injuries on the team, they were able to fit him on the active roster. He came in the game for the first time on special teams.

Raiders Week 4 inactives vs Browns: Maxx Crosby not suiting up
With the way the injury report was looking, you knew a few names who would be showing up among the inactives for this game.
https://twitter.com/Raiders/status/1840465326720631063
/>
LB Divine Deablo
WR Davante Adams
CB Decamerion Richardson
LB Kana’i Mauga
T Thayer Munford
TE Michael Mayer
DE Maxx Crosby
One of the names that had everyone wondering a bit was Maxx Crosby. Despite head coach Antonio Pierce announcing him as OUT for the game, he showed up on the injury report as Doubtful.
Some might remember him showing up as Doubtful for a game last season and still playing. That game he literally ended up in the hospital with a knee injury, but still took the field.
Not this time, however. His high ankle sprain is just too limiting and the Raiders sat him down to recover.
With so many injuries to starters, some guys will make their debut including RB Dylan Laube and WR/KR Tyreik McAllister.

Browns Looking to Prevent Raiders' Minshew 'From Getting Hot'
Sunday's Week 4 matchup between the Las Vegas Raiders and Cleveland Browns can be expected to be a tough, hard-fought contest. For Cleveland's defense, the main task will be limiting Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew II, who can catch fire when he gets in a groove. "He's a gunslinger," said Browns defensive end Myles Garrett. Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz also noted the emphasis on preventing Minshew from finding a rhythm.

NFL Week 4: Bengals, Browns already at pivotal points early in the season
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – It would appear the NFL schedule continues to offer the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns opportunities to bounce back after a rough start to the 2024 season, but both teams have yet to take advantage. Could Sunday be the day? Here are the keys to Week 4’s matchups: Cincinnati Bengals (0-3) […]

3 causes for concern as the Raiders face the Browns Sunday
I know what you’re thinking right now. What about this Raiders team *isn’t* a cause for concern right now? That’s fair. But I suppose some things are more glaring than others. Here are three big ones that come to mind.
Myles Garrett
Antonio Pierce was asked for his thoughts on Myles Garrett and he summed it up with one word – “Scary”. Garrett is the reigning Defensive Player of the Year and for good reason. He was in the top ten in sacks (14), tackles for loss (17), and QB hits (30), and pressures (86). Now, you can argue Maxx Crosby was better considering Crosby had better numbers in every one of those categories, but that’s not really the point here.
The point is Garrett is a problem. And the Raiders offensive tackles have not exactly shown the ability to keep even decent pass rushers out of the backfield this season. Even Kolton Miller has been uncharacteristically susceptible to getting beaten. And rookie DJ Glaze will be making his first start on the other side.
Stars injured
No question the Raiders have exactly two stars on their team. Maxx Crosby on defense and Davante Adams on offense. Neither of whom will play Sunday. Crosby is officially listed as Doubtful by Antonio Pierce said Friday Crosby would be OUT. Adams suffered a hamstring injury in practice this week and he’s been ruled OUT.
Even with Crosby playing last week, the defense gave up 36 points because Crosby was hobbled and not destroying the offense’s game plan. Now, to be without him entirely? Yikes.
The only game the Raiders won this season was when Adams was caught nine passes for 110 yards and had some masterful late game heroics. He won’t be an option in the pass game this week.
League worst ground game
Despite Raiders OC Luke Getsy’s laughable comment that the Raiders run game showed some improvement last week, it hasn’t. Their 2.8 rushing yards per attempt is easily the worst in the league.
And get this, they are ALSO the worst run DEFENSE in the league, giving up a league worst 5.4 yards per carry.
The Browns are decent both in terms of yards per carry on the offense (4.3) and yards per carry allowed by the defense (4.4). Both stats are above league average.

Browns WR Amari Cooper talks about first time facing Raiders team that drafted him
Believe it or not, Sunday will be the first time since Amari Cooper was traded away by the Raiders that he will face his former team. There was one other chance he had to face off against the team that drafted him No. 4 overall back in 2021, when he was in Dallas but he came down with COVID and missed the game.
Therefore Coop will take the field for the Browns on Sunday, looking at the Silver & Black on the opposite sideline for the first time in his career.
Coop was sent to Dallas midway through the 2018 season in exchange for a first round pick. He played the rest of that season and three more with the Cowboys before being traded to Cleveland. So, it’s been a long road. So long, in fact, the Raiders aren’t even in the same city as when he left.
“I played in the Black Hole,” Cooper told ESPN Cleveland, referring to the Oakland Coliseum. “I’ve never even been to Vegas, so I think it necessarily would feel the same. It won’t because I didn’t play there. It won’t have the same aura to it like a guy coming back to the team that drafted him and coming back to the same place he played at. It doesn’t have that feel.
“And it’s so far removed. It’s what, seven, six years removed from when I departed from the Raiders. Honestly it doesn’t feel like a revenge game or anything like that. I don’t even know any of the players there. None of the guys who are on that team when I was there. I don’t think one guy. So, it doesn’t feel like that. But you never know until you get there, you know what I mean? You never know until you’re on the field. You never know.”
Technically there is one player on the Raiders who was there when Cooper still with the team – Kolton Miller, who was drafted in 2018. And, of course, there will be Mark Davis still roaming the sideline at pregame.
Coop is coming off a career year with 1250 yards receiving, helping him make his first Pro Bowl in four years. It’s his fifth trip to the Pro Bowl, his first two coming in a Raiders uniform.
Yeah, 1250 yards isn’t that impressive when you consider how long Coop has played and how talented he is. His big criticism has always been his lack of fire and passion. Does anything motivate him to take his game to the next level? Will facing the team that drafted him and gave up on him move the needle with him? As Coop said “You never know.”

Browns lose David Njoku for Raiders matchup with ankle injury
Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku has been ruled out for the team's Week 4 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders due to an ankle injury, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter. Njoku, who has not played since suffering the injury in Week 1, returned to limited practice on Thursday, offering some hope for his return. Njoku's absence is a major setback for the Browns' offense, particularly in the passing game. Quarterback Deshaun Watson, still working to establish a rhythm with his receivers, will be without one of his top targets once again.

Cleveland Browns' Myles Garrett pushing through several injuries, NFL's top DE determined to play against Las Vegas Raiders
Myles Garrett won't let an assortment of injuries stop him. Garrett was back at practice with the Browns on Thursday and the NFL's incumbent Defensive Player of the Year said he'll play Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders despite dealing with injuries to both feet, an Achilles tendon and thigh — and maybe others. Garrett barely made it through last week's loss to the New York Giants, and after seeing him struggle to even walk following the game, it appeared the star defensive end's season could be in jeopardy. The only player to record at least 14 sacks in each of the past three seasons, Garrett said he has been told he won't do any further harm by continuing to play.

Matt Leinart on Antonio Pierce's suggestion that certain Raiders lacked effort in Week 3
"As the game went on, I think there was definitely some individuals that made business decisions,” Pierce said. “And we'll make business decisions going forward, as well.” Matt Leinart spent seven years in the NFL and, during the most recent episode of his new podcast Throwbacks, the former Heisman Trophy winning quarterback shed some light on the types of situations where he could recall players making “business decisions.”

Raiders sticking with Gardner Minshew at quarterback vs Browns
With two poor performances in the first three games this season, Gardner Minshew’s status as the Raiders starting quarterback seemed a bit tenuous. The day after the team’s ugly loss to the winless Panthers last Sunday, Antonio Pierce wouldn’t say for certain that Minshew would remain the starter as they headed for Week four. Adding that he needed to speak with the team first.
In the interim days, the team’s two star players Davante Adams and Maxx Crosby both took to podcasts and said they would prefer the team stick with Minshew at this point in time. Come Wednesday, Pierce made it official that the team was sticking with Minshew this week when the team welcomes the Cleveland Browns to Las Vegas.
“What I said was, I need to get with the players and evaluate the film, so there’s no issue,” said Pierce. “Gardner Minshew is the quarterback.”
Back when Minshew was named the team’s quarterback over incumbent starter Aidan O’Connell, Pierce said he would give Minshew at least the first four games before he re-evaluated it. So, this would be in keeping with that. And it also means, the question will arise again next week. And perhaps every week if Minshew continues to struggle.

Raiders try to manage injured DE Maxx Crosby
As a downtrodden Maxx Crosby sat at his locker following the Las Vegas Raiders' drubbing by the Carolina Panthers, electrical stimulation pads went to work on the edge rusher's injured left ankle. The pulsating electrical nodes showed more life than the Raiders' defense did. Indeed, as a clearly hampered Crosby went against Carolina, so, too, did the Raiders' suddenly phlegmatic defense. "Our effort, our energy, our passion, did not show up [Sunday] and that just can't always be 98," Raiders coach Antonio Pierce said of Crosby, referencing his uniform number.

Raiders' early-season momentum dims in ugly loss to Panthers
Black jerseys and clothing were all that was visible for several blocks Sunday morning outside Allegiant Stadium three hours before the Las Vegas Raiders' home opener. Unlike most other home games since the Raiders moved into their new $2 billion home across from the Strip, road fans were in rare supply. Hints of Carolina Panthers' blue and black barely dotted the stadium even when kickoff drew closer, and no cheers were audible when the visitors ran onto the field for the first time. The Raiders' contingent, on the other hand, was boisterous.

Behind Enemy Lines: Previewing Raiders Week 3 matchup with Panthers Wire
The Panthers are coming to Las Vegas this Sunday to face the Raiders. In preparation of that, I spoke with Anthony Rizzuti from USA Today’s Panthers Wire to get the scoop on the team the Raiders are about to face.
Q: I don’t know if you saw this thing recently where unnamed agents were asked to rate how well each NFL team was run and more agents said the Panthers were the most unstable franchise in the NFL than any other team (Raiders had the next most votes). Do you agree? And why?
Anthony Rizzuti: Well, it certainly looks that way. Not only has owner David Tepper garnered quite the reputation for being a bit . . . um . . . meddlesome, but he’s also failed to establish almost any type of stability during his seven-year reign.
Since Tepper purchased the franchise in 2018, the Panthers have had three different general managers, four different head coaches (six if you count interims) and 10 different starting quarterbacks. And since the team changed hands, they’ve gone 31-70—good (or bad) enough for a league-worst .307 winning percentage over that span.
Q: Was drafting Bryce Young a mistake? Or was benching him a mistake?
AR: The answer may be neither. The real mistake, rather, could be that he was thrown into an absolute dumpster fire as a rookie.
Built with visions of attaching their No. 1 overall pick to an “all-star” braintrust, Carolina’s 2023 offensive coaching staff ultimately proved to be a jumbled bag of differing philosophies that never meshed. Young, in turn, was drowned by the myriad of voices in his ear as well as the lack of playmakers and protection throughout the season.
Could Young have been a miss atop last year’s draft? Possibly, as he has yet to prove otherwise and, in the most concerning development, regressed here in 2024.
But sitting him—whether it’s for the betterment of the offense, a reset for Young or both—was a decision that should have been made. First-year head coach Dave Canales is trying to build his own culture in Carolina, and he wasn’t going to win over many players if he continued to start a completely overwhelmed quarterback.
Q: How much faith is three that Andy Dalton can be the answer for what’s wrong with the Panthers offense?
AR: Dalton may not be the answer to the Panthers’ offensive woes, but he’s certainly a better one than Young is right now.
Of their 17 games in 2023, Carolina pieced together just two 300-yard passing performances. One of the two, ironically enough, came in Week 3—when Dalton replaced an injured Young.
In what would be his only start of the season, the then-35-year-old vet tossed for 361 yards and two touchdowns in a 37-27 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He also attempted seven passes of at least 20 yards downfield, a dimension the offense has been deprived of under Young.
Now 36 years old, Dalton’s experience and willingness to let the ball fly could ignite the offense a bit moving forward.
Q: Give me an under-the-radar player to watch on both sides of the ball for the Panthers.
AR: On offense, keep your eyes rookie wideout Xavier Legette. The first-rounder, who recorded a grand total of zero targets this past week, may be unleashed with the added element of Dalton’s deep ball.
For the defense, we’ll go with cornerback Mike Jackson. Acquired in a late-summer swap for 2024 seventh-rounder Michael Barrett, Jackson has impressed in his role as the No. 2 cornerback across from Jaycee Horn.
Q: Before the Raiders stunner in Baltimore, they were viewed right there with the Panthers as one of the worst in the NFL. What strengths do the Panthers have that should concern the Raiders?
AR: Surprisingly enough, the Panthers may have built themselves a formidable offensive line. The group of hog mollies is currently being led by their interior of left guard Damien Lewis, right guard Robert Hunt and center Austin Corbett—who is in his very first year at the position.
That trio could start to pave the way for a stubborn ground approach headed by running back Chuba Hubbard. The fourth-year rusher dashed the solid Los Angeles Chargers defense for 64 yards on only 10 carries in Week 2.

Raiders oddly suggested as possible trade partner for young RB by NFL insider
The Las Vegas Raiders' rushing attack is off to a terrible start to the season, with Las Vegas averaging a putrid 49 yards per game over its first two, the worst mark in the NFL. Head coach Antonio Pierce made it quite clear he still believes in White. Despite that fact, ESPN's Dan Graziano still believes the Raiders could be in the market for a running back at some point, and he thinks Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce could be an option for them.

Raiders injury news: DE Tyree Wilson to return Week 3 vs Panthers
Six snaps into the season opener, the Raiders lost Tyree Wilson to a sprained knee. After the game, he was sporting a brace on his right knee that limited mobility on the knee and at the time it was not known how much time he would miss.
It turns out that timeline was one full game.
The former seventh overall pick returned to practice this week for the Raiders. Though he was limited the first two practices. And Friday, head coach Antonio Pierce said Wilson will play in Sunday’s home opener against the Panthers.
With starting defensive end Malcolm Koonce on injured reserve for at least a couple more weeks, Wilson could see significant snaps, though he may not start. Even though he was healthy to open the season, it was Charles Snowden who got the start at defensive end opposite Maxx Crosby.
Snowden got the start last week in Baltimore as well, though Janarius Robinson would see more snaps. With Crosby typically playing every snap, it figures to be a three-man rotation between Wilson, Snowden, and Robinson at the other end spot.
