Raiders WR Davante Adams ranked as No. 1 receiver in the NFL by coaches, executives

When the Raiders traded away their first and second-round picks for a wide receiver this offseason, it wasn’t for just any Pro Bowl receiver. Instead, they traded for the consensus top receiver in the NFL over the last few years. In a recent article by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, he polled over 50 NFL coaches, scouts and executives and had them rank their top 10 receivers in the league. Davante Adams was the top receiver for the second-straight year, earning more than 66 percent of the first-place votes. Here is what one NFL executive had to say about the new receiver for the Las Vegas Raiders: “Still the best. Big, athletic, runs all the routes, competitive. His spatial awareness and route feel are the best. There are times, because of how good he was with Aaron [Rodgers], where you couldn’t guard him.” There are some concerns about how a 29-year-old Adams will adjust to playing with Derek Carr after spending his entire career with Aaron Rodgers. But the consensus around the league is that he is the NFL’s best route-runner and is nearly impossible to stop in one-on-one situations. The Raiders gave up a lot to get Adams, but they view him as the top receiver in the NFL. And if he can continue to perform like that over the next two or three seasons, the Raiders will have a fantastic chance of making a deep run in the AFC.
