When the Raiders selected Kolton Miller at pick No. 15 in the 2018 NFL Draft, they knew they were taking a player with a lot of upside. However, they also knew it might take him a few years before he develops into a good tackle in the NFL.
The great news for the Raiders is that despite a rough rookie season, Miller has drastically improved each year. Don’t believe me? Just take a look at his grades from Pro Football Focus.
Here is what the site had to say about the fifth-year offensive tackle from UCLA:
“Miller is a good example of why it’s a mistake to write off an offensive lineman after just one or two years, as he looked like a “bust” after his rookie season.
Miller has shown consistent improvement from season to season since that rookie year, developing into the Raiders’ most reliable offensive lineman and a top-five left tackle in PFF grade last season. There’s no reason he can’t remain in that range with his play catching up to elite athletic tools.”
As mentioned above, Miller finished as the fifth-highest graded offensive tackle last season and he was one of the very best in pass-block sets. He has rare size and athleticism, which you don’t see at offensive tackle very often.
Miller is just 26 years old and he’s still improving for the Raiders. That has to be a scary sight for the rest of the AFC pass rushers. Don’t be surprised if Miller establishes himself as one of the top three left tackles in the league as soon as this year.
