Bettors Burn Out Hard After Raiders Shut Out By Saints In Week 8
The Raiders appeared to have an advantage at quarterback with Andy Dalton starting for the Saints, but Derek Carr simply didn’t show up in Week 8. New Orleans shut out Las Vegas, 24-0, at Caesars Superdome thanks to the electric play from Alvin Kamara. The running back, whose name was floated in trade talks heading into Sunday’s matchup, had 158 total yards and scored all three of the Saints’ touchdowns.

Superdown: Raiders' progress halted in New Orleans with shutout loss
The offense gained only 183 yards on 3.3 yards per play, while the defense gave up 367 yards and 5.8 yards per play — and the Saints’ numbers would have been higher if not for two drives at the end of the game where they were trying to run out the clock. If you’re going to point a finger, point it at me,” McDaniels said afterwards. Obviously I’ve got to do a better job getting us ready on gameday, but I love the group and think they really band together in the second half.

Raiders' TE Darren Wallers Will Test Hamstring in Warm-Ups
Depending on how warm-ups go, the Las Vegas Raiders could have one of Derek Carr’s favorite targets back in the lineup. Adam Schefter reports that Darren Waller will test his hamstring pre-game, and if it holds up, he’ll take to the field against the New Orleans Saints. The Raiders’ tight end was last on the field in Week 5 versus the Kansas City Chiefs, a game in which he played only eight snaps before leaving.

With Raiders coming to town, Saints coach Dennis Allen talks experience from old team to now
Saints coach Dennis Allen won’t throw a victory parade if he beats his old team this weekend when the Saints host the Las Vegas Raiders. It would also keep the Saints (2-5) in the hunt for the NFC South title, where they are currently only 1.5 games back from first place despite being in last. The Raiders (2-4), like the Saints, have struggled under a new coach -- in their case Josh McDaniels.

Is Raiders RB Josh Jacobs altering Josh McDaniels' RB-by-committee philosophy?
Jacobs' production over Las Vegas' last three games, and really, over the course of the Raiders' 2-4 start, has caused a shift in McDaniels' heretofore running back-by-committee playcalling philosophy, a shift that will likely continue when the Raiders play at the New Orleans Saints (2-5) on Sunday (1 p.m. ET, CBS). Consider: Over Las Vegas' last three games, Jacobs -- who has carried the ball 69 times for 440 yards and six TDs in that stretch -- has 88.2% (82 of 93) of the offensive touches by ...

Raider rookie Neil Farrell Jr. in line for a bigger role after recent trade
I’ve still got a long ways to go but I’m improving each week. The 24-year-old is going to have plenty of opportunities to showcase that improvement over the rest of the season starting Sunday when the Raiders (2-4) travel to take on the New Orleans Saints (2-5) at Caesars Superdome. The trade of five-year Raider defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins to the Dallas Cowboys this week may have come as a surprise to some, but not to those who have paid close attention to the recent defensive line rotation.

Raiders run away late from Texans for rare lopsided win
After too many games early in the season when the Las Vegas Raiders couldn't seem to make a big play at the right time in the fourth quarter, everything came together against Houston. Raiders conquer red zone woes in win over Houston
Coming into the contest Las Vegas ranked 25th in the NFL in red zone conversion rate, as they scored touchdowns on just 47.4% of their trips inside the opponents’ 20-yard line. Against the porous Houston defense they looked like a completely different team, reaching the end zone on all three red-zone trips. In fact, Las Vegas only needed to run three plays inside the 20 to score three touchdowns.

The Saints (2-5) boast top-10 marks in yards and scoring both in the air and on the ground, and are top-10 in both third down and Red Zone conversion rate. That comes despite injuries to multiple key players this season, including quarterback Jameis Winston. The former Pro Bowler has played only three games this season due to back and ankle injuries, and even when healthy has struggled, throwing five interceptions.

Josh Jacobs named MVP for Raiders through Week 7
Davante Adams remains one of the most dangerous receivers in the league and Darren Waller is a top-five tight end, when healthy. But the best player for the Raiders this season has been none other than Josh Jacobs. Once again, he was the best player on the field on Sunday as he posted another 100-yard rushing performance and scored three touchdowns.

Raiders playoff chances jump up to 22% after Week 7 win
The Raiders needed a win in Week 7 to save their season and they were able to get it against the Texans. Josh Jacobs had another monster performance, rushing for 143 yards and three touchdowns.
It was a significant win to get to 2-4 on the season and to stay in the playoff hunt. According to FiveThirtyEight, the Raiders saw their playoff chances rise from 16 percent to 22 percent in Week 7. The win was obviously the biggest factor in the odds shift for the Raiders, but they also had some things go their way on Sunday.
The Chargers, Broncos, Colts, Jaguars, Steelers, and Browns all lost in Week 7, making the Wild Card picture a bit cloudier. It will still likely take nine or more wins to make the playoffs, but all of these “contenders” falling this week certainly helped.
It’s still too early to get too concerned about the playoff picture, especially for the Raiders. But this was exactly the type of convincing win the Raiders needed to get back on track going into November.

Right tackle named biggest 2023 draft need for Las Vegas Raiders
Heading into training camp, the right tackle spot was the biggest area of concern for the Raiders. And going into Week 7, that is still the weakest spot on the entire roster. The Raiders have tried several different players at that position since the start of training camp and none of them have been reliable or consistent.

X-Factors for Raiders vs. Texans
Both the Las Vegas Raiders and Houston Texans find themselves in desperate situations on Sunday in a battle of one-win teams. For the Raiders, it offers the chance to start getting their season back on track, and there are multiple players who could make a big difference for either team as x-factors. Yes, cornerback Nate Hobbs won't be playing Sunday after going on injured reserve with a broken hand, but that could end up having a big reverberation throughout the Raiders entire defense.

Texans head coach Love Smith has a history of being a good defensive coach, and he's been able to get good play from a defense with a lot of young pieces. Raiders CB Anthony Averett, WR DJ Turner return to practice opening window for return from IR
The season opener for the Raiders saw them stricken with a slew of injuries. Among them were starting cornerback Anthony Averett and reserve slot receiver DJ Turner. Both of whom were sent to injured reserve.
If a player in placed on injured reserve after the final 53-man roster cutdown, they are eligible to return after four weeks. That return window opens today and right on schedule, both players will take the practice field.
Keep in mind, this doesn’t necessarily mean they will play Sunday against the Texans. This opens a 21-day window for each player to be activated from injured reserve.
It’s also possible both are available right now, making their return today very good news.
Should Averett play this Sunday, his return would come at the perfect time, with fellow starting cornerback Nate Hobbs headed to IR with a broken hand.
Turner was showing himself to be a talented slot target and return specialist in the preseason, which is how he made the team. It will be good to see what he can bring to the offense as well as the special teams unit once he is ready to see game action again.
